The LGBT Resource Center, the Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Disability Cultural Center will all be moved to the Schine Student Center when renovations are complete.

Construction of the National Veterans Resource Center’s foundation is complete, according to a campus-wide email sent on Monday.

Pete Sala, Syracuse University’s vice president and chief facilities officer, said in the email the next step for the $62.5 million project is to put the steel superstructure of the building in place. The project, to be completed in spring 2020, will centralize veteran services in a hub on the corner of Waverly and South Crouse avenues.

SU’s new Center for Undergraduate Research will be set up on the second floor of Bird Library, and construction will begin in late November, Sala said. The other construction in Bird will improve a fifth-floor suite that will house the Disability Cultural Center, the Office of Multicultural Affairs and the LGBT Resource Center, Sala said.

The LGBT Resource Center will relocate in January 2019, and the other two offices will move after commencement in May 2019. All three centers will be located in the Schine Student Center when renovations are complete.

Other building updates, according to the email:

  • Renovation of a lab in the Physics Building.
  • Two all-gender restrooms in Crouse College and the Shaffer Art Building to be completed during winter break.
  • A renovated student services suite in Crouse College was recently completed.
  • The schematic design for the $6 million Allyn Innovation Center, an addition to the south side of Link Hall, is finished.
